Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a small, quiet town. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar with its meaning. It is often believed that it's an island located to the west of Montreal However, it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities that are Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time there was short. Brugel grew on Courtice close to Oshawa within Ontario. The first goal she had was to become an expert dancer. But, a growing increase caused her to surpass her dance partners she had. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. When I outgrew my male friends, I quit. Brugel was one of many former dancers that turned into acting. Her high school teacher school was the one who pushed her in the right direction. She was encouraged to audition for a part in the school's production. She auditioned and was cast as Anne of Green Gables. This led to the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program which she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2000. In the past 20 years, Brugel's work has been seen on the small and large screen. Her work gained most recognition when she landed her role as Rita in the acclaimed television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was only seen on a few moments in the very first season of The Handmaid's Tale. She was the sole Canadian actor.
